3. This is an amazing book about a post apocalyptic society. The US is split into districts according to their major exports. All 12 districts work hard creating or harvesting their exports to send to the capital. In the capital the people live lovely lavish lives, while the people in the 12 districts suffer and live in impoverished conditions. On top of keeping the districts in constant poverty the capital demands a sacrifice of one girl and one boy each year, they claim it is to remind the citizens not to up-rise against the capital again. I believe it is also for the sick, twisted enjoyment of the capital people.
The selected boy and girl are sent to an area for the yearly Hunger Games, where 24 children ages 12-18 fight to the death. If you win the games you become a victor and are supposed to live a life of luxury from then on with your family back in your district.
4. My favorite thing that happened in this book was when Katniss made an alliance and friendship with the young Rue. This is my favorite because through Rue, Katniss is able to show that she is compassionate and loving. Through Rue she is able to gain the empathy of district 11 and the mercy of Thresh.
5. I do not recommend that you read this book if you do not like adventure, survival, friendship, and cunningness. However, if you want to find out who wins the 74th hunger games and how, read this book!
